Fire Stations

“Station 2 is more than just a building; it is the center of emergency readiness for the Troutville community. Strategically located to provide rapid access to residential neighborhoods, commercial districts, and major transportation corridors like I-81, our facility is staffed by dedicated volunteers 24/7. This station serves as the staging ground for our life-saving operations, housing our advanced fleet of fire and rescue apparatus and providing a state-of-the-art environment for continuous firefighter training and community outreach.”

Protecting 56 Square Miles from One Hub

“Operating out of our main facility at 20 Sunset Avenue, the Troutville Volunteer Fire Department provides primary fire and rescue protection to approximately 12,000 citizens. Our station’s location is critical for maintaining low response times across a diverse landscape that includes high-density residential areas, sprawling rural farmland, and heavy industrial zones.

Inside Station 2, we maintain a constant state of ‘Turnout Readiness.’ Our bays are designed for rapid deployment, featuring exhaust removal systems to protect member health and specialized gear racks that allow our firefighters to dress and depart within seconds of a call. This facility also serves as a secondary Emergency Operations Center for the town during large-scale weather events or regional emergencies, ensuring that Troutville remains resilient no matter the challenge.”

A Space Built for Professional Excellence

“The life of a volunteer firefighter involves hours of preparation for minutes of action. Our station features modern living quarters, a full kitchen, and study areas to support our members who spend their nights and weekends on standby. More importantly, the facility includes a dedicated training classroom and onsite drill grounds. From practicing roof ventilation on our training props to conducting classroom-based EMS recertifications, Station 2 is a place where professional skills are forged and the bonds of brotherhood are strengthened.”

We regularly host station tours for local schools, Boy/Girl Scout troops, and civic organizations to teach fire safety in an interactive environment. Visitors can see our apparatus up close, learn about the tools we use, and meet the men and women who serve them.
