Tiger Cubs from Boy Scout Pack 137 came to the Troutville Volunteer Fire Department to learn about fire safety and have some fun at the same time. The Tiger Cubs learned about Stop, Drop & Roll, Fire Alarms and how to dial 911 to report an emergency. Each Tiger Cub was given the opportunity to dial 911 to report a "play" emergency with a real dispatcher on the other end of our special 911 phones.

Recently, the Troutville Fire Department was host to a local troop of Daisies. The day started off by showing the Daisies how a Rescue Pumper, like Wagon 2, is used at a fire or an accident. Each compartment was opened and many excellent questions were asked as the Rescue Pumper was explored. One of the most exciting parts was looking at the Hurst Jaws of Life and learning what they can do in an accident. The Hurst "O" Cutters were "The largest pair of scissors we have ever saw".
