August 19, 2010 Open Air Ban Lifted Due to recent rainstorms, the previously mentioned ban on open air burning has been lifted.
Please remember to call Botetourt County Sheriff's Office at 540-473-8631 to report your controlled burn, campfire, etc. This will ensure that the fire department is not sent to your house when citizens pass through your area and report smoke through the County's 911 system.

July 7, 2010 Ban on Open Air Burning Now in Effect Botetourt County Officials have expanded a ban on open air burning, effective immediately. A lack of rainfall and high temperatures have resulted in extremely dry conditions and an increased danger of wildfires.
All open air burning, including campfires, is banned until further notice.
Once significant rainfall has reduced the threat of wildfire, the expanded ban will be lifted and public notification will be made.
June 10, 2010 Botetourt County June Fire Training Jack Cassell from Roanoke Gas has been invited to present on Natural Gas Emergencies. The training will be held on Wednesday, June 16, 7PM at Fincastle Volunteer Fire Department.

Now, by selecting Live Dispatch in our Navigation menu (to your left) the live audio stream for Botetourt County Fire and Rescue will automatically start. If your browser does not support Java then a link is proved on the Live Dispatch page that opens the Botetourt County Fire and Rescue live feed where you can choose an alternate audio player.
Live Dispatch is a great way to keep in touch with the community. If you have ever been curious why the fire whistle is going off go to Live Dispatch and listen to the action in real time. This feed monitors Botetourt County dispatch repeated fire and rescue frequencies for channels 1 (dispatch), 3 (Tactical 3) and 5 (Tactical 5).
